it isn't directly related because it is dependent on a number of factors
1) the size of the quake
2) how far the quake was from the house/other building
3) the type of ground the building is built on
4) the type of building materials used
5) the height of the building
small or large quakes can do damage to poorly built structures
well built structures that take earthquake shaking into account in their design
will do well in all except the biggest of quakes or moderate quakes very close and if they are on soft ground
