Explanation:

Throughout our entire lives as women…we will struggle with different identities. First I was a daughter, student then a mom.

When I became a mom…I had to be careful that my entire life wasn’t wrapped up in my children. It is hard not to fall into that. It really is about balance. I found that as much as I wanted to be a mom and loved it and I had left a career to stay home with them, and I was a wife and mom that I was somewhat lonely and it wasn’t fulfilling this empty place in me that I thought it should. I wanted more…but didn’t know what it was.

In the Indian society marriage plays a vital role in giving identity of a woman. A woman, in spite of being a better half, has no identity without marriage. An unmarried woman

is not treated well in the society. She is called immoral and wanton too. A girl gets

a new name; and it is the name of her husband. She has no house for her own. It's the house of her husband where she has to live in. She has to follow the rule and adapt to the requirements for her husband's family. Thus marriage is highly related to the identity of a woman.
