How is the method of extraction of metals of high reactivity series different from that for metals in the middle? Why the same proccess cannot be applied for them.

Metals of low reactivity are extracted by reducing them from carbon. Metals of high reactivity have more affinity to Oxygen than Carbon so they cannot be reduced by carbon. Instead, metals of high reactivity are extracted by electrolytic reduction.
