Left Atrium receives oxygenated blood through the pulmonary vein. The atrium has a thin wall. The blood is collected in the left atrium when the left atrium relaxes. As soon as the left atrium contracts, the bicuspid valve opens and the left ventricle expands and blood is transferred to the left ventricle. Then, the left ventricle contracts the aortic valve opens and the blood moves to to the aorta and is pumped to all the other parts of the body.
