Lost Spring by Anne Jung is a narration of traditions and grinding poverty. The story focuses upon the people who have been succumbed and the conditions of the poor children who are forced to work in hazardous and dirty conditions. These poor children belong to slums. The story is divided into two parts, the first part of the story focuses on the ragpickers who have migrated from Bangladesh and writer forms the impression of life about them who now lives in Seemapuri area in Delhi.
The latter part of the story is described in the town of Firozabad. It focuses upon the miserable life of bangle makers. The writer tells about the hard work that they put to earn money, however, still, they are unable to afford a two-day meal. Due to their work, they suffer from consequences of blindness and are exploited by the people working above them.
