How is the prime minister elected in China?
The present Premier is Li Keqiang, appointed on 15 March 2013. President usually initiates the nomination for the premier while the selection procedure is informal and candidate is recommended by the ruling party (communist party of china). Prime minister is the leader of state council of china and head of a Govt. The appointment is finally approved by the NPC (National People’s Congress). Term is for 5 years for a prime-minister. The Premier has always been a member of the powerful Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China.
