Many historians felt that the print culture was a major cause for the French Revolution. There are some points on which we can say that the print culture was responsible for the French Revolution. These are as follows.
1. Printed material spread the ideas of  the Enlightenment thinkers all over the France.
2.They critisised traditions, superstition and despotism in their written work.
3. the writing propagated the view that everything should be judged through the application of reason and rationality.
4. The Enlightenment thinkers attacked the sacred authority of church and the dictatorial power of the state. At that time Rousseau and Voltaire were very popular and people were influenced by them.
5. Print culture created a new environment of debate and dialogue. New ideas of social revolution were born.
6. In 1780s published books criticised the morality of royalty and the people who read them raised question about the existing social order.
It is quite right that the print culture was responsible for the French Revolution.
