how is the resolving power(RP) of a microscope affected, when the (a) wavelength of illuminating radiation decrease and (b) diameter of the objective lens decrease ? state reason to justify your answer.

ani99ket: do you really have a problem with the question .
ani99ket: because the answer would be directly written in the book.

Resolving power of a microscope =
(2*u*sinx)/wavelength

more the wavelength of light , lesser will be the resolving power because resolving power is inversely proportional to wavelength.

x is the angle subtended by radius of objective lens on one of the objects.

Thus if the diameter of the lens decreases ,
value of x decreases.
and so resolving power also decreases
because they are directly proportional
