Scientists name organisms with a two word Latin name, genus followed by species. For example Homo Sapiens in which sapiens is the species and Homo is the Genus. Universal scientific name is required because there are lot of animal and plants species on earth. To study such a huge number of species effective classification requires universal scientific names.

Answer:

Binomial Name

The scientific names of species are italicized. The genus name is always capitalized and is written first; the specific epithet follows the genus name and is not capitalized. There is no exception to this.

Scientific names are used to describe various species of organisms in a way that is universal so that scientists around the globe can readily identify the same animal. This is called binomial nomenclature, and many of the scientific names are derived from the Latin name of the organism.
