The number of chromosomes present in the nucleus of each cell is 46. Out of this 46, two of them are sex chromosomes. In male the (sperm) cell contains X and Y chromosome.
and in female there is X and X chromosome.
During the fertilisation, one of the chromosome from the Sperm X or Y fuses with the Egg cell containing X chromosome. If the chromosome X from sperm is fused with the egg, the child will be a girl containing XX cell. And if the chromosome Y from spern fuses with the egg cell (containing a pair of X), the child will be a boy with XY.
Hope it helped u buddy :)
