Many instruments are used to measure short distances. Some of the commonly used Instruments are:
1. Vernier Caliper:
It is a precision instrument used to measure internal and external distances efficiently and accurately. Digital vernier calipers are more easy to use as compared to manually operated vernier calipers. However, Manual version is more commonly used because it is cheap and does not require any power source.
2. Screw Gauge:
It is an instrument used to measure the diameter of a thin wire or thickness of a metal plate. It is widely used in the field of mechanical engineering as it is used to measure small dimensions.
3. Spherometer:
It is used to measure the radius of curvature of a spherical surface. Is also works on the principle of Micrometer screw gauge.
