How is the small intestine specialized for absorption?

It has got villi on it's inner walls. Each villi contains small micro villi on top of them. Small finger-like projections are found in the ileum called villi. Micro villi help to increase surface area to volume ratio of the absorption. Lacteal vessels and a constant supply of blood in the villi also helps.
