The members of Lok Sabha is elected directly by the people.

He/she presides over the meetings of lok sabha.
He/she maintains discipline in the house.
He/she presides over the joint sitting of both the houses

The Speaker of lok Sabha is eleted by the peoples, and thats why it is called lower house. Functions of speaker are -

• He / she control/ preside over the meetings of look Sabha.
• It maintains discipline and decourm of the house.
• All the petitions and documents addressed to the house are received by the Speaker.
