The story 'Old Man at the Bridge' by Ernest Hemngway is about war and death.
- The story is set in the backdrop of the great Spanish Civil War that took place towards the later half of 1930s. The narrator in this story is a soldier. The scout boy soldier has been given the responsible to look after the bridge from where the refugees tend to flee most of the time. The refugees flee from the Army of Fascists.
- There the soldier scout boy meets an old man who seems anxious and worried about the little things, like his animals. He had given up on getting freedom from the Army. There are several other innocent people who have buried their hope of ever leaving this place and gaining their freedom back. Hence, the story is clearly about war and death.
