A polymer is a large molecule, or macromolecule, composed of many repeated subunits. Natural polymeric materials are such as hemp, shellac, amber, wool, silk, etc. As with other molecules, In general, tensile strength increases with polymer chain length. Tensile strength is important for a material that is going to be stretched or under. So modulus is expressed in the same units as strength, such as N/cm2.
