Answer:

The allegorical poem talks about the ravages of war and aggression when everything is reduced to shambles and one can hear one's footstep echoed in far away forests and on the streets, when most people are dead. This is the power of destruction. When everything is gone, the survivors realize that the world is after all a home for all men and what better way to do that other than roaming around and singing. No other occupation is worth the while for there are no people to produce or consume any other service. There is no demand and hence no supply. Just exist till you make peace with your Maker and sing away all past glories!
