When food enters our mouth the enzyme salivary amylase is released which digests starch present in food to acidic substance so the pH of mouth decreases , this substance corrodes the layer of Calcium phosphate ( Enamel ) . It can be prevented by using toothpastes so the pH of the mouth rises and the Enamel is saved from corroding.

eating chocolates lowers the ph of your mouth, makes the mouth acidic resulting in tooth decay. It can be prevented by using a toothpaste which is basic in nature. Toothpaste which is basic in nature neutralizes the excess pain in our tooth. Thus it can be prevented in this way.
Hope it helps!.
