they are used for imaging of organs inside the body such as liver etc

ultrasound is used for many medical purposes like-
1. echocardiography
2.to detect stones in kidneys
3.to break down these stones
4.also used to obtain a picture of the foetus to ensure that the baby is developing at the right rate and there are no deformities
