Diversity is when people belonging to different religions, ethnicity, cast, creed, class etc. live together. Diversity is an important factor of a society. Unity in diversity is a concept introduced by Nehru, an Indian politician.

He said that diversity is not just about people of difference backgrounds living together but also about understanding one another on the basis of difference. He believed that "difference enriches human interactions."

Unity in diversity can be maintained in society be practicing the following:

1: Respect each other's choices as well as their social, economic and political background.

2: Despite having difference of opinion, let others express their views and give them their space and time.

3: Allow human interaction without questioning one's religious, social and economic standing.

4: Spread awareness about importance of unity in diversity and add the concept in the primary level of education.

5: Create tolerant behavior towards everyone, regardless of their culture, norms and values.
