• The history of the spread of Islam spans around 1,500 years. Muslim conquests following Muhammad's death led to the conception of the caliphates, dominating a vast geographical area.

• Following the death of Prophet Muhammad in 632 AD, Islam propagated far and wide within a very short period, much of this was made possible through an initial establishment and succeeding expansion of the Islamic Empire owing to conquest, for instance, that of North Africa and next Spain (Al-Andalus), and the Islamic conquest of Persia.

• Conversion to Islam was enhanced by missionary activities, mainly those of imams, who interacted with local inhabitants to broadcast the religious teachings.  

• These primitive caliphates, combined with Muslim economics and trading, the Islamic Golden Age, and the Age of the Islamic Gunpowders, stemmed in Islam's spread outwards from Mecca towards the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans and the establishment of the Muslim world.  

• Trading played a vital role in the propagation of Islam in numerous parts of the world, particularly Indian traders in Southeast Asia.
