Explanation:

The islands of Laccadive, Minicoy, and Amindivi in the Arabian Sea are known as Lakshadweep. They are coral islands and created by the once erupted volcanoes. There are three theories as per the formation of this island.

Some consider that the island was formed by the collision of tectonic plates, some say due to the formation of coral reefs the island was created and some say due to the volcanic eruption.

When the free-swimming larvae of corals get attached to rocks, they begin to grow and form coral reefs which are quite hard like rocks made of calcium.

Many animals like sponges, fish anemones crustaceans grow on it and die, adding volume to the calcium content in rocks. Slowly, a mass of this reef adjoins the other coral reef to form a big island.

The volcanic theory suggests that due to the eruption of the volcano, the magma flowed into the ocean. With time, it got cooled to form layers of flat rocks that later rise above with continuous eruption and flow of lava. Later this flat land gets raised up to form a table like structure Island surrounded by sea.
