We know the particles of liquids experience strong forces of attraction from other particles of the liquid . But the force of attraction experienced by the particles of liquids present at the surface , due to other particals , is comparatively much less .

Therefore , particles at the surface of liquid requires less amount of energy to overcome the forces of attraction and escape .
