The leguminous plants secrete some chemicals that help that bacteria (For example, rhizobium) to identify the root system. The leguminous plants has nodes in which the bacteria is present. The bacteria absorbs the atmosphere nitrogen and converts it into soil nitrogen so that the roots of the leguminous plants can absorb. So,now the bacteria and the leguminous plants are in symbiotic relationship with the bacteria(rhizobium).
