⭐ Schleiden and Schwann together formulated the cell theory.
⭐ In 1838, Matthias Schleiden studied various types of plants and found that plants are made of cells which forms the tissues of the plant.
⭐ In 1839, another scientist, Theodore Schwann, studied animals and found that animals had a thin outer layer called the plasma membrane.
⭐The cell theory however did not explain as to how new cells were formed.
⭐Rudolf Virchow in 1855 explained that cells divide and new cells areformed from pre-existing cells.
