15 - 28 days the ovum waits for the sperm to get fertilized . If the ovum is fertilized , the corpus luteum continues to release progesterone and so keeps the utreus in a state suitable for implantation . however if it us not fertilized then as a result the thickened linning of the utreus start shedding on the 28 th day and loses blood.
