Our solar system is completely dependent upon the sun for survival...
Sun last for 10 billion years out of which 5 are done and 5 more to go....
Therefore our earth and solar system will last for 5 billion more years..

The solar system exists because of the Sun. The sun's gravity keeps the planets of the solar system together. So as long as the sun remains, the solar system including our earth will be there. Astronomers estimate that the sun is going to die in about 4.5 millions years from now, when its store of hydrogen will get exhausted. But before the sun dies, it will grow much bigger and become a 'red giant '. It will become so large that it will engulf the planets mercury, Venus and possibly even our Earth. When the sun becomes larger, its heat will boil off the oceans on Earth and all life will be destroyed.
