Given :

• Length of a rectangular field = 60 m

• Breadth of a rectangular field = 20 m

To find :

• Total time the cylcist will take to cover the rectangular field at the speed of 5 m/s

Solution :

Here, we shall calculate the perimeter of rectangular field which will be equal to the distance travelled.

→ Using formula,

• Perimeter of rectangular field = 2(l + b)

where,

  • l = length
  • b = breadth

Substituting the given values,

→ Perimeter of rectangular field = 2(60 + 20)

→ Perimeter of rectangular field = 2(80)

→ Perimeter of rectanglular field = 160

Perimeter of rectangular field = Distance travelled

Therefore, the distance travelled = 160 m

Formula to calculate time :-

→ Time = Distance ÷ Speed

Substituting the given values :-

→ Time = 160 ÷ 5

→ Time = 32

Therefore, the cyclist will take 32 seconds to cover the cover the rectangular field of length 60 m and breadth 20 m at the speed of 5 m/s.
