Convert 72 km per hour into metre per second by multiplying it by 5 by 18 which is equal to 20 metre per second now if the train has to completely pass the pole the rear end of the train should cross the pole hence the train will travel 50 m hence it will take 50 by 20 that is 2.5 seconds to cross the pole

total dist to be covered=50m
20m=1 sec
1m= 1/20 sec
50 m=1/20*50=5/2sec=2.5 sec
