Given,

The length of the race = 500 metres

The speed of the athlete = 50 km/h

To find,

The time taken by that athelete to complete the race.

Solution,

We can solve this problem by using the normal arithmetical method.

So,

The athelete runs 50 km in = 1 hour

The athelete runs 50000 m in = 3600 seconds

The athlete runs 1 m in = 3600/50000 seconds

The athelete runs 500 m in = 500×3600/50000 = 36 seconds

Hence, the athelete will take 36 seconds to complete the race.

Step-by-step explanation:

Time = Distance / Speed

1 KM = 1000 Metres

50 Km = 50km×1000M=50000 Metres

1 hour = 3600 seconds

500×3600÷50000=36second

Hence,an athlete will take 36 second to run a race of 500 metres
