Speed of a sound wave =

Wavelength × Frequency

Wavelength = 25 cm = 0.25 meters.

Frequency = 1.5kHz = 1500Hz

Speed of the sound wave = 0.25 × 1500

= 375 m/s

The distance given = 1.5 km = 1500m

If the sound travels 375 meters in one second,

How much time will it take to travel 1500m ?

That is,

1500 × 1 ÷ 375

4 seconds

Therefore the sound wave will take 4seconds to travel 1.5 kms.

Hello friend

-----------------

Here is your answer.

let's start,

Given:

frequency= 1.5kHz.

= 1.5 x 10^3 Hz

Wavelength = 2.5cm

= 0.25m

Distance = 1.5km

= 1.5 x 10^3 cm.

We know that,

Velocity of sound = frequency x Wavelength

v = 1.5 x 10^3 x 0.25

v = 0.375 m/s

v = 375m/s.

So we got the velocity.

Now we can easily find the time.

Time= Distance/velocity

t = 1.5 x 10^3/375

t =1500/375

t = 4 s

Therefore, the sound wave take 4s to travel the distance of 1.5 km.

Thanks.
