How long will sound take to travel in a) an iron rail, b) air, both 3.3 km in length? (Take speed of sound in air to be 330 metre per second and in iron to be 5280 metre per second)

given that the speed is in metre we need to convert the length between the two tanks also in metres so 3.3 kilometre will be is equals to 3300m .

we all know that a speed is equals to distance by time so :- time =distance /speed .

(I) by the above formula .

time =(3300m/ 5280m )*s

=0.625 s

(ii) time = (3300m/330 m )*s

= 10 s
