it has only crossed its halfway life time it is estimated to give out light for another 500 million years

sun contains hydrogen and helium gases when nuclear reaction takes place on sun helium and heat is liberated with light so as long as this reactions takes place we can say that heat and light can be emitted by sun but for these reactions to expire it may take a long time
