The lymphatic system is essential for our survival. This system has three main functions:
to collect and recycle the excess interstitial fluid and its dissolved substances,to absorb fats and other substances from the digestive tract (this topic will be discussed in the Digestive System Unit), andto initiate and coordinate an immune response to remove cellular debris, bacteria, toxins, fungi, parasites, and viruses that accumulate in our bodies.

Hey friend,
Difference -
1. Lymph is filtered blood plasma, but it has lower protein contents than plasma.
2. Lymph is colourless, clear and watery fluid; whereas Blood is red coloured, thick and heavy fluid.
Direction -
Lymph flows in one direction only. It flows upward direction only.
Functions of Lymphatic System -
1. Helps in distribution of nutrients and oxygen to tissues.
2. Absorbs fatty acids and glycerol through lacteals.
3. Helps in removal of nitrogenous wastes and carbon dioxide from tissues.
4. Lymphoctyes destroy harmful pathogens.
5. Controls the concentration of proteins in tissue fluid.
Hope it helps!
