Magnetic Field Lines around a bar magnet can be obtained by the following activity -

• Take a bar magnet and place it on a white sheet of paper .

• Place a magnetic compass at one end to mark the two poles of the magnet and label them respectively .

• Shift the compass from this position and place it in such a way that the South Pole of its needle is on the point marked for the North Pole.

• Do the next step in a similar way .

• Finally join all the points plotted to get the required magnetic field lines .

One can easily demonstrate the presence of field lines around a bar magnet using compass needle placed the magnet on a white sheet and marked its boundaries on sheet place then place a compass near the north pole of the magnet and mark the position of needle. Now move the compass such as such that its south pole position previously occupied by its northport repeated several times and you will observe that the magnetic field are drawn.
