Answer- A LINEAR EQUATION is one which depends on L.H.S. and R.H.S. and contains values on either side and they should be equal.
To make a linear equation, (for e.g.) take x as a variable.
To prove:- (L.H.S. = R.H.S.)
                   x+ 3 = 4
Proof:- L.H.S.- x + 3
R.H.S.- 4
L.H.S.- x
R.H.S.- 4-3 = 1
∴L.H.S. = R.H.S.
x= 1

while making linear equation R.H.S=L.H.S important L.H.S must be equals to R.H.S
ax+b=0 (or)ax=b,a is not=0 is called linear equation
ax+by+c=0,a is not =0,b is not= 0 where a,b,c €R, is called linear equation in two variable
the degree of linear equation is 1
example:
2x+5x =0 then x =?
2x+5x=0
7x=0
x =0÷7
x=0
a linear equation given in sentence form also example:
if four times a number reduced by 5 is = 19 then number is ?
4x-5=19
4x=19+5
4x=24
x=24÷4
x=6
