I assume you have 40 watt bulbs rated for 220v. Since Power = voltage x current, we need a current of 40/220 or about 0.18 A per bulb. You would draw 5A when you had 5/0.18 or 27 bulbs. But you don’t want to run a fuse at its rating as it will blow in a matter of minutes. So I’d say somewhere around 20 bulbs should be ok.
