To find -

How many small rectangles can be cut out from the big rectangle

Solution -

How many small rectangle.. = Area of big rectangle ÷ area of small rectangle

= (b¹) ÷ (b)

= (36 cm × 28 cm) ÷ (7 cm × 10 cm)

= 1008 cm² ÷ 70 cm²

= 14.4

It means we can cut 14 small rectangles from big rectangle, We will think that 0.4 rectangle is wastage.
