Two numbers of additional atp are used during synthesis of two molecules of hexose sugar in maize than tomato. The process is known as Glycolysis. It is a cytoplasmic pathway where b glucose breaks down into two three-carbon compounds and generates energy. Glucose is trapped by the process of phosphorylation, with the help of the enzyme hexokinase. Adenosine triphosphate is used in this reaction and the product glucose-6-P is produced.

12 atp is required during the synthesis of one molecule, so for 2 molecules, 24 atp is required during synthesis of hexose sugar in maize than tomato.

Hexose is nothing but any class of simple sugar which is similar to other forms of sugar like glucose and fructose, basically those form of sugar which have 6 carbon atoms.
