Anything which has mass and occupies space is called matter
Matter can exist in three physical states i.e
(i) Solid
(ii) Liquid
(iii) Gas
- solid is states of matter which have fixed volume and definite shape is termed solid
- liquid is a states of matter which have fixed volume but not definite shape is termed liquid
- gas is a states of matter which have no fixed volume and no definite shape is termed gas
