Here,So, total no. of atoms/unit cell=1+1=2. In a face centred cubic, there are 6 atoms in the faces, each at one of the 6 faces of the cube.

the face centred atoms are shared between two unit cells.

So, the contribution of face centred atoms is 6X1/2=3. Besides, it also contains 8 corner atoms shared by 8 other unit cells.
