Hi,
First you would find out how many grams of carbon you have.
We know that,
1 Carat = .2 g
24 carats x 0.2g/carat = 4.8 grams
Convert it to moles using conversions.
4.8grams x (1mole/12.01grams) = 0.40 moles of carbon
Using Avogadro's number, the number of atom in a mole =6.022 x 10^23,multiply it by the number of moles.
We get,
0.40 moles x 6.022 x 10^23 atoms = 2.4 x 10^23 number of atoms of carbon in 24 Carats
