38 molecules are formed.
reason.
1. complete oxidation of glucose occurs via. Aerobic respiration and involves three steps , namely glycolysis, Krebs cycle and electron transfer chain.
2. during glycolysis, 2 ATP molecules and 2NADH2 molecules are generated.
3. during Krebs cycle, 2ATP molecules are generated along with NADH2 and FADH2 molecules. the molecules under go, terminal oxidation through the electron chain reaction.
4. the 10 NADH2 molecules generated yield 3 ATP molecules each i.ea total of 30 ATP.
5. the 2 FADH2 molecules generated yield 2 ATP molecules each i.e a total of 4 ATP.
6. These 34 ATP molecules generated through the electron transfer reaction, along with 2 molecules each of ATP, generated through glycolysis and Krebs cycle form a net total of 38 ATP molecules.
