There are three main types of blood vessels. The arteries (red) carry oxygen and nutrients away from your heart, to your body's tissues. The veins (blue) take oxygen-poor blood back to the heart. Arteries begin with the aorta, the large artery leaving the heart.

The heart is an organ which acts like a pump for transport of blood and oxygen to all the parts of the body.there are four blood vessels in heart- two arteries and two veins which helps to prevent blood rich in carbon dioxide with blood rich in oxygen. As the arteries blood rich in oxygen and veins carry blood rich in carbon dioxide. The heart has four Chambers. These are made up of muscles. These muscles contracts and relaxes rhythmically. These contraction followed by its relaxation constitute a heart beat.
