There are one atom of carbon that is present in Carbon-dioxide.

Carbon-dioxide = CO2

Here carbon atoms = 1

And the number of atoms of Oxygen = 2

And the total number of atoms = 3

Here the molar mass of Carbon dioxide :

Atomic Mass of carbon = 1

Atomic Mass of Oxygen = 16

And there are two atoms of Oxygen so , the molar mass of carbon dioxide :

1+2×16 = 33 u.

There is only one carbon atom in carbon dioxide.

 CO_{2} =  C_{1} \:  +  \:  O_{2}

So, carbon dioxide is combined with one atom of carbon and two atoms of oxygen.
