1. in presence of oxygen, Glucose breaks into carbon dioxide and water and releases 32 ATP energy. it is known as aerobic respiration.

2. in absence of oxygen, Glucose breaks into ethyl alcohol or lactic acid with release of 2 ATP energy. this process is known as anaerobic respiration.. also known as fermentation.
