Explanation:
Mawmluh Krem
The primary entrance to this famous cave is located at the bottom of Lum Lawbah's western slope. The entrance is readily located by following the river downstream for about 200 metres from Mawmluh Cherra Cements Limited's cement factory to a point where the water has gone underground. The primary entry to the sink requires wading through water, which transforms into a dangerous black quicksand from cement plant effluents during the dry season. A high-level bypass entry running parallel to the main route would be the ideal method to access the cave.
The Krem Dam
The spectacular Krem Dam entrance, approximately 30 m broad, is located at the foot of a huge blind valley about 1 km east of the settlement of Mawsynram. The cave is entered by a big stream that goes down the valley. The cave is constructed by a coarse calcareous grained facies that resembles sandstone. The cave is mostly made up of one huge river route that terminates in a collapsed roof where daylight may be seen. To the side of the main tunnel, there is a complicated maze of side passages and oxbows. The cave contains no notable calcite formations.
