why mitochondria is called powerhouse of the cell?

There are a total of 6 main organelles. and 3 side organelles
some are ribosomes, lysosomes, ER, mitochondria etc

Mitochondria is known as the power house of the cell because it is responsible for producing most of the cell's energy, or adenosine tri-phosphate (ATP).

Nucleus
Ribosomes
Endoplasmic reticulum
Golgi apparatus
Chloroplasts
Mitochondria
Mitochondria is known as the powerhouse of the cell because it generates engergy in the form of atp molecules ..the energy needed for the the various activies in plants are released by the mitochondra in the form of atp ...n the process of creating energy by the mitochondria is called the cellular respiration
