DANCEFORMS IN INDIA:

There are Eight Classical danceforms in India. These danceforms are originated from the History of India. These danceforms represent the culture and traditions of India.

The eight danceforms of India are:

=> Mohinyattam from Kerala

=> Kuchipudi from Andhrapradesh

=> Kathakali from Kerala

=> Kathak from Uttar Pradesh

=> Bharatanatyam from Tamil Nadu

=> Sattriya from Assam

=>Manipuri from Manipur

=> Odissi from Orissa

These danceforms are recognized by Sangeet Natak Akademi and the Ministry of Culture as the classical danceforms of India. There are many other danceforms in India like Bihu, Bhangra, Rauf, Ghoomar, Garba etc.

The ministry of Culture also considers Chhau of Odisha as one of the classical danceforms in India.
