Pentene has 16 covalent bonds.

Explanation:

  • Pentene is an alkene having 5 carbon atom and the presence of a double bond. Pentene may have many structural isomers. However the most common isomer is pent-1-ene.
  • It's structure is \bold{\mathrm{CH}_{2}=\mathrm{CH}-\mathrm{CH}_{2}-\mathrm{CH}_{2}-\mathrm{CH}_{3}}. Here all the bonds are covalent in nature. So if we calculate the total number of bonds, it comes to 16.
  • The first carbon has 4 bonds, the second has 1, the third has four, the fourth carbon has two bond and the last carbon has four bonds.
