The number of cross aldol products formed  (without counting  stereoisomers)  are 1

  • Aldol condensation: The process of reacting aldehydes or ketones in presence of dil. NaOH to β hydroxy aldehyde or β hydroxy ketone known as Aldol.
  • Aldol condensation produces 4 products.
  • But if one of reacting species doesn;t have α Hydrogen atom , then only 2 products are formed, as in this case.
  • It behaves just as a anion acceptor.
  • Also , it is said to not count on stereoisomers.
  • Therefore we have only 1 product left.
